Casey P. Kener
An associate attorney for Jennings & Medura, Casey has worked exclusively in family law throughout her legal career. She is an experienced advocate – both inside and outside of the courtroom – and is well-versed in high conflict divorce and custody cases. Casey’s background is focused particularly in advocacy for children and she prioritizes the well-being of minors in contentious child custody matters. Casey is also a fierce competitor and is committed to maximizing results for her clients.
Casey earned her J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law and graduated with honors. Casey’s time at Michigan State was highlighted by her participation in the “Chance at Childhood” legal clinic where she helped families navigate complicated custody issues and conducted evaluations in an effort to advocate for the well-being of children. Casey also spent time working for the Michigan Friend of the Court Bureau – where she analyzed statistics, laws, and court rules to establish and implement child support, custody, and parenting time policy and guidelines. Casey honed her family law skills during school and arrived at Jennings & Medura in 2021 with a well-established foundation of knowledge to immediately make an impact at the firm.
Casey grew up in Douglasville, Georgia and has deep Southern roots. She attended high school in Georgia where she was a three-sport athlete and academic all-stater. Her athletic prowess in high school earned her a full-ride scholarship to play Division-1 soccer at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana. At Southeastern, she captained the women’s soccer team for three years, won two Southland Conference championships and was an academic All-American. While being a force on the field and in the classroom, Casey also spent time in her undergraduate years working for the juvenile court system where she developed her passion for advocacy, especially for at-risk youth.
Casey graduated from Southeastern Louisiana in 2017 magna cum laude and left Hammond an accomplished athlete and student.
Casey is currently a member of the Utah State Bar and spends her free time exercising, consuming all things true-crime, and being the proud mother of her cat Sushi.
