Even the Most Difficult Cases
Cases in which a child has been abused, neglected or is dependent are usually initiated by the Utah Attorney General’s Office and involve the Utah Division of Child and Family Services (“DCFS”), usually after a child has been removed from their home due to abuse, dependency or neglect. These are often difficult and complex cases where parents and/or other family members need representation during the process of reunifying a parent with a child or, in some cases, terminating a parent’s rights. An attorney known as a Guardian ad Litem is appointed in these cases to represent the interests of the children involved.
Advice and Recommendations
Counseling and evaluations are commonplace in these cases and recommendations regarding parental fitness, psychological stability, drug abuse and addiction and the like often come into play in litigating these cases. We can help parents embroiled in this system to address problems, reunify with their children and keep their families intact.
